Psalms 107:19 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.
There is an old story told of a man who owned a large family farm. One day he and his son was preparing the land for spring planting and there were several large rocks in the ground that had to be removed. His son said that he would remove them and after several hours the son informed his father that there was one rock that was just too large to move. He said that he had tried everything he knew to remove the large stone. The father told him that he had not tried everything until he asked for help from him. His father told him that he had the strength needed to help him move the stone. At that point, the father and his son removed the last obstacle to the planting.
There are so many times in life that we try to remove the stones in our paths ourselves most often without a victory. We do everything we know to do and then ponder the reasons why we have failed to clear the fields of our lives of the stumbling blocks that are in our way. Our most loving Heavenly Father tells us in His Holy Word that we most desperately need to depend on Him, and that like the farmer’s son, we have not done everything we can until we ask God for His Guidance and help. In order to enjoy the peace and joy that living the Christian life can bring we have to accept the fact that these heavy rocks that block our path are much more than we can bear on our own.
This beautiful psalm as our verse of the day is speaking of the Children of Israel when they ask God for His help to free them from their bondage and He will do the same for us today, if we will learn to call on Him and place our burdens in His capable Hands. He stands ready, willing and able to carry our every burden (John 15:5; Philippians 4:13).
Sometimes we allow our inability to stand in the way of God's ability
