Bible Verse of The Day Friday December 7th 2018

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” These were the words spoken by President Franklin D. Roosevelt when the armed forces of Japan unexpectedly and purposely mounted an attack on the United States Naval Station at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 7th, 1941. More than 2000 Americans lost their lives and another 1,000 plus were injured. This ended a 23 years peace in the United States since the end of World War 1, the war that was supposed to end all wars.

There will always be wars and rumors of wars in the world as long as Satan has free reign (Matthew 24:6). The sin in the hearts of people will cause a separation and enmity from God and consequently a separation and hostility between people of the world. It sometimes seems that this violence carried out on people is getting worse and worse as time goes on. This could seem this way because of the instant communications we enjoy in this digital age we are living in. Also, as the decades roll by there are more and more people living on planet earth, and the more people there are the more violence there will be. We watch in horror on the nightly news as someone takes the lives of innocent school children in their own schools. We mourn for the people that are killed every day through the evil of Satan in the hearts of ones that are followers of the Prince of Darkness. We shed tears for our young men and women coming back home in flag-draped coffins, who have given their lives so that we can know some semblance of peace.

The only answer to this worldwide problem is to flock to the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus. Our Lord and Savior has reminded us that there will always be trouble, conflict between God and Humanity, and humanity itself. The only real true peace we will ever know is the peace found in Christ Jesus. Jesus defeated Satan on the Cross of Calvary and has brought us a freedom from sin and Satan that can be ours as a free gift (Romans 6:23).

As washed in the Blood, born again, saved believers and followers of Christ Jesus we have been called to peace. The only way we can know this peace that transcends all understanding is allowing our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus to have the complete rule and freedom in our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls (Colossians 3:15).

The hearts of those that are following the prince of darkness are filled with deceitfulness and because Satan has control over their lives there is a continuous conspiracy of evil. However, the true disciples of Christ Jesus will have a heart’s desire to encourage peace, and in doing so we will find a joy in life that cannot be diminished by anything the world throws at us (Proverbs 12:20).

Let us always support and respect our military men and women, on this day of somber remembrance and every day. It would be a grand idea to give a quick handshake and thank you to our troops in uniform, as well as our past Veterans.
