2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Today is the first day of a brand new year and although there is little difference in this day and any other day, in our minds it marks an end to one period of time and a new beginning of another. When we cross the line from 2018 to 2019 there are no visible marks. The ocean has no visible marks when one crosses the equator and yet one can hardly ever forget the first time, they crossed it. We are crossing a new line today, sailing from 2018 into the uncharted waters of 2019.
We, as followers and believers of Christ Jesus, get a fresh new start. God not only forgives us of all of our sins, but He forms and fashions a new creation. Each and every time we come to Him, every day as we rededicate our lives to Him, every new year we surrender to Him we get a fresh new start. So, as we cross the threshold of 2018 and enter the new waters of 2019, let us rededicate our minds, bodies, spirits, and souls to serving our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
A New Year’s Prayer:
Dear and gracious Heavenly Father I want to bring praise and glory to your Holy name this new year and beyond. Dear Lord, please help me to do this in every step I take, in every word I speak and to each person that you lead to me to tell of your saving grace. Dear Father, I realize that I am not promised even one day in this new year, but help me to live each and every day for your honor and your glory.
