Ephesians 3:12 In him and
through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
In and through our
Lord and Savior Christ Jesus we have many freedoms, from the law, from sin,
from death, however, one of the sweetest freedoms we know is the freedom to bow
before the creator of all of heaven and earth, the one that spoke the universe
into being.
This verse speaks of
how we can approach the very throne of God and not be intimidated by adverse
powers that would like nothing more than for us to turn our backs on God. This
privilege is made possible by the only position we hold in life, and that is
our standing with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. If this freedom to bow down
at God’s throne was all there was to this promise, it would be a degree of
awesomeness that is without description or explanation. However, this is not
the case, because we not only have the freedom to come before God, but we can
do it with confidence (Hebrews 4:16; Hebrews 10:19-22).
There are two avenues
mentioned in our verse of the day by which we might have the freedom to access
the throne room of Almighty God. They are first through Christ Jesus and the
sacrifice He made on the Cross of Calvary and second our faith in Him. We must
believe that first, there is nothing we can do to gain this access, there is
nothing we have or ever will have that we could offer God. Secondly, we place
our past, present, and future in the saving power of the only way to true
salvation, our Lord, and Savior, Christ Jesus.
We as born again
washed in the blood of Jesus, believers, and followers of Christ can go to God
with the confidence that He will never reject us. The certainty that He truly
cares about us and will never turn His back on our petitions or request. God is
patient with us even though we sometimes are impatient when it comes to a
resolution to some issue we are facing.
Even though we have an
open door to the throne of God, through Christ Jesus, we should not only take
advantage of that when we need something from God, but sometimes just to say I
love you, and I am so grateful that I am one of your children. Sometimes when
we visit God’s throne, in His presence, let us go in worship and praise,
without asking for one single thing from God.
