The Beatitudes Part VIII of VIII
Matthew
5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of
righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
There are still places in the world today where people who follow Christ
Jesus are being persecuted and killed for no other reason than teaching and
preaching the Gospel of Christ. Their reward is an eternity spent with Our Lord
and Savior Christ Jesus, and the blessings that come from being a good and
faithful servant of God.
As followers and believers of Christ Jesus, we are to follow the example
set by Jesus during His Earthly Ministry. As Jesus taught us, we are to live a
life through Prayer's power and the leading, guiding, and direction of the Holy
Spirit. We are to treat all people with compassion, kind-heartedness, patients,
and understanding as we follow the Great Commission and spread the Gospel to
the earth's ends.
Our lives should be spent in fervent Prayer, giving ourselves to those in
need, and being a good reflector for Christ Jesus's light that shines in a
lost, dark, and dying world. Jesus taught us that we should always strive to
keep humility in our hearts and submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit's leading.
Without a heart filled with humility, we stand to contact the same
disease that befell the Pharisees of the time Jesus was on the earth, which is
a heart hardened and cold through years of self-righteousness, practicing
religion instead of having a loving relationship with God.
In this verse of scripture, the concept of persecution describes someone
who was not seeking confrontation, but because of their faith experienced harm.
In other words, because of their witness and teaching the Gospel of Christ,
through faith, experienced persecution.
This is applied to us today when we attempt to use our faith as a weapon
to confront people, quarrel or criticize them in order to shine a light on their
sins and become boastful and proud. In doing this, we are not following the
example of Christ and persecution from behavior as that does not afford us
special blessings from Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
As soldiers and warriors of Christ Jesus, we need to always remember we
should bow down to Christ on our knees in Prayer before surrendering ourselves
to God's will in taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth, and fighting the
spiritual battles we will face every day of our lives.
The preaching of the Cross of Christ is foolishness to the world's ways
and is an offense to the world. We must be careful that we add no other offense
by our actions, in turn, giving those we witness to any means to insult the
glorious name of Christ Jesus or cause them to turn away from God.
