Genesis 1:5b and there was evening, and there was morning —the first day.
The
evening was filled with darkness, and the morning was blossoming with light,
but both of them are in the same category, the first day. This exact
correlation can be applied to our spiritual life's experiences as well. In our
lives without Christ Jesus, we are in darkness; however, when we come to Jesus,
our lives have then moved away from the darkness into the light. This is a most
comforting truth for all people, still in the darkness looking for the path to
the light. The light of the world lights the way, Christ Jesus, and in the end
is the Morning Star, our glorious morning we wake up in Glory, knowing that the
light will never again dissipate, but shine brightly for eternity.
In
this verse of Scripture, the evening's darkness comes first; we begin our
existence here on earth in the evening, in darkness. But then we meet Christ
Jesus and accept Him, allowing Him to bring the morning's light to our lives.
In the early days, the people of the Land of Israel saw the beginning of a day
as the evening at sunset and the day continuing until the sun went down on the
following day.
The
position in the morning's time is second, and it draws its light when God's
grace overcomes the nature of this world. This is a most blessed occurrence
because when that light from the Morning Star illuminates and overcomes our
evening's darkness, that light will never dissipate, it will continue for
eternity.
When
our evening's darkness is dispelled, and we wake up in our new life, a life
filled with Christ Jesus's light, we will never again experience the darkness.
We will go through some storms of life when the light does not seem as bright
as it should. However, rest assured that the light will drive away the clouds of
despair, and in doing so, our spiritual lives will gain strength. The light in
our lives now, which is Christ Jesus, will not only guide us through this rough
and rocky path we are on now, but will shine the way to the day we are with
Christ Jesus in the mansion that He has built for us in eternity.
