1 John 1:2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
John's gospel and his three Epistles are all focused
on the eternal promised Messiah, Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. In Him is
found the only way to the forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. The
alternative is eternal death (Romans
6:23a), but through our belief, faith,
and trust in Christ Jesus, we can receive the free gift from God of eternal
Life (Romans 6:23b). We discover in the opening words of John's Gospel
that "in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God (John
1:1). Christ Jesus is the living Word of God and
"in the beginning" (Genesis
1:1) was with God and created all things on earth and
in the heavens because He is the Word of God.
As there have been from the beginning of time, there
are many false teachers that profess that Christ Jesus was a created
individual. Still, others falsely claim that he was only given a Deity
prominence after His earthly ministry, death, burial, and resurrection. Many
cannot comprehend or understand the Godhead's concept, one God in three
personages, The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. People cannot and will not
believe something until they can fully understand the concept, hypothesis, and
theory of any perception. The gospel of Christ Jesus is opposite from any
worldly philosophy; we must believe to understand. We will never fully
understand the Godhead concept in this Life, but in eternal Life, "we will
know as we are known" (1 Corinthians 13:12). Now we only see Christ Jesus
as a reflection of Love, grace, and mercy, but when we are free of these sinful
human bodies, we will see Him face to face.
The heartbeat that we accept Christ Jesus as our
Lord and Savior we pass over death to Life, eternal death to eternal Life.
Contrary to many false teachers, we begin our eternal Life the very second we
receive Christ as our Lord and Savior; we can never achieve eternal Life; we
can only gain it; it is a free gift. There is no other way to come to the
Father except through the Son; Jesus made it perfectly clear that He is the only
way (John 14:6).
As much as I would like to, I do not understand the
magnitude of Love that our Lord and Savior exhibited on the Hill of Calvary. We
do not have to understand it; all we have to do is believe it. We know it is
the truth because it is in God's Holy Word. We know the Word to be the truth
because it is written in the precious blood of Christ Jesus, shed on the Cross
of Calvary.
