Bible Verse of the Day Thursday May 13th 2021

2 Peter 1:20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.

Some believe that there is some hidden code that God inserted in the Bible. The consensus among these new age "prophets" is that God put a secret message in His Holy Word, knowing someday someone would invent the computer to dissect these codes. This supposable code stems from a book written by Grant Jeffery entitled "The Mysterious Bible Codes" and has led to a computer software program that can help you find these codes. There is a verse of scripture in Deuteronomy comes to my mind when I read about some hidden code from God (Deuteronomy 30:11).

A group of people ran this program on books like "Moby Dick" and found "miraculous" coincidences in them. The inspiration of the Bible and the message God has for us in His Word is most certainly not found in hidden codes; the inspiration is plain to see, not hidden. Some claim to have found hidden meanings in their own interpretation of the Bible. These wolves in sheep's clothing will use a verse out of context to lead people into heretical doctrine. One example is a verse in 1 Corinthians 15:29  " Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do that are baptized for the dead." Paul was admonishing the Corinthians for not believing in the resurrection while at the same time they were practicing baptism for the dead. There are some denominations today that practice Baptism for the dead, taking that section of 1 Corinthians out of context. This fraudulent practice of "baptism for the dead" says that baptism alone will save you. As Christians, we are confident and place our faith in the truth that our salvation comes by grace through faith and not because of any good works we might do, baptism, or any other work (1 Corinthians 15:29),

The apostle Peter wrote, "No prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation " (2 Peter 1:20). To find the true and accurate interpretation of any Bible verse, we must always consider the context of the verse we are looking at with the other scripture. By following this plan, God will reveal His true message He has for us. God's message for you and me is crystal clear; there are no hidden codes that you need to look for. You do not need an additional book to tell you how to find this "supposable code"; you only need to pray and ask God to show you the truth. If you go to Amazon.com and type in "The Mysterious Bible Code by Grant R. Jeffery," you will see the motive behind this code, selling books.

"Consult God's instruction and the testimony of warning," (Isaiah 8:19-20) we do not need a book written by humanity to receive the special message God has for us. By going to the Lord in prayer, His Holy Spirit will help us learn His ways and the paths He would have us to follow. As far as the question, "is there a hidden code in the Bible," we should be asking another question; "why does it matter?" What is more important is what we decide to do with the clear, revealed message that God has for us in His Holy Word.

Our enemy Satan would like to see Christians and non-Christians alike totally miss the special message God has for us in Proverbs 3:5-6. When we allow ourselves to be caught up in useless endeavors with no biblical truth, we will miss the real message God has for us and play right into the hands of our enemy Satan.
