2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
Our earthly bodies are created from the dust of the earth and for the extent of our earthly time here in this life we live in weak, meager, dying, and decaying bodies, Apparently, they are not of great worth to the boundless, mighty, omnipotent creator of all in heaven and all on earth, whom we are to praise and worship for eternity. And yet God has taken these apparently useless, insignificant human forms and poured into them a revelation of the glorious gospel of His only begotten Son.
God has lavished into our hearts and souls the heavenly light of His love and glory, the magnificent truth of His salvation and grace and the wealth of the good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus. It is Christ alone, and no other, that can save us from the consequences and punishment from the power of sin, eternal death, and the pits of Hell.
God initiated the cherished light of the understanding and comprehension of God’s glory to inundate our frail, human bodies so that He will reside in us and work through us – for our eternal advantage and for His superior praise and glory. God has given us this most treasured gift in our earthly bodies, in order that all the power in us may be for God’s glory and not our own.
The prince of this world is Satan who is also the enemy of our hearts and souls, who attempts to keep us blinded to the truth of God’s Word. His evil object is the deceive us with his lies and deceits. The true light of the gospel of Christ Jesus is the spiritual light that illuminates the hearts and souls of all that have surrendered to and accepted Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
On the Damascus Road God closed the natural eyes of Paul, then Saul, for three days so that his spiritual eyes might be opened, and he would, at last, see that Christ Jesus was and is the true promised Messiah. When his spiritual sight was restored, he then saw the truth that the only way to salvation was faith and trust in Christ Jesus. It is from dust that we were created and to dust we shall return, however, although our bodies are simple clay vessels the treasure that has indwelled our bodies is the Holy Spirit of God.
The all-powerful supreme Creator of all in heaven and all on earth, who initiated the true light to shine out of the darkness is the very one that has lit up our souls so that we can see that we are to reflect His light to a lost, dark, and dying world. In addition, that we may also clearly see that we are to be ministers of His grace and mercy for all that are dead in their trespasses and sins.
We, as God’s children, are to be an earthen vessel that the glorious truth of the gospel of Christ Jesus has been poured. Which in turn has allowed our mortal bodies to be Temples in which the Holy Spirit of God resides, so that the excellence of that power may be shown forth in our lives.
