Bible Verse of the Day Sunday June 4th 2021

Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

July 4th is a day that we as a nation here in the United States celebrate our freedom from a tyrannical hold on us from the English Monarchy. However, it was not the day we secured our freedom, that did not occur until British General Charles Cornwallis formally surrendered 8,000 British soldiers and seamen to a French and American force at Yorktown, Virginia on February 25th, 1781, bringing the American Revolution to a close. July 4th, 1776 was when 56 brave men put their John Hancock, as it were, to a document of a proclamation of independence sent to King George III. As far as the British Government was concerned, this was an act of high treason against the King, which would have meant certain death if the war had gone the other way.

This writing is not about the independence of a nation, it is about the independence of a people, all the people of the world who have ever lived, are living now or will ever live (Romans 6:6-7). The selfless sacrifice that our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus made on the Cross of Calvary set all people free from the bonds and chains of slavery to sin and Satan. The standard of liberty that is ours because of the substitutionary work on the Cross of Calvary by Christ Jesus on our behalf, is our right and passage to the presence of the throne of God. The liberty that was afforded to us in 1781 was a civil liberty, but the liberty that became ours because of Christ Jesus is a personal liberty with no limits.

As Christians, we should stand on our liberty and hold on to the love and grace of God that is ours because of Christ Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross. If we let go of the principle of grace then our lives will fade into the bonds and chains of legalism, which will lead to a self-attempted method and tactic of coming to God. Grace does not give us a free pass to live a life indulgent in sinful behavior, it does give us the liberty to live a life surrendered to Christ Jesus (Romans 6:17-18).

The freedom of being in a right standing with God (Righteousness) is a liberty with no earthly comparison. When we reach the point of a solid assurance of our salvation, we will then know the freedom to be with God for eternity. We will then be free to serve God with our entire being, mind, body spirit and soul, because we want to, not because of any legalistic rules or regulations.

As followers and believers in Christ Jesus, we are saved by grace, we are living our lives through grace and when we leave this life, we will leave it in God’s grace.

There is coming a day, that every born again, washed in the blood of Christ Jesus, saved follower and believer will be set free from the very presence of sin. There is nothing we could ever do to bring this most wonderful blessing on ourselves, Jesus made the way for our eternal life. There is absolutely nothing we could ever do to make ourselves deserving of an eternal life with Christ Jesus, nor can we do anything to take it away (John 10:28-30).
