Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday August 3rd 2021

Jonah 3:1-2 And the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

This verse of scripture is a clear indication of God's love, mercy, and grace towards His wayward people. Jonah did everything he possibly could to get out of the first call of God; however, when he repented, God once again called him. He did this out of His great mercy and grace. Jonah most certainly did not deserve to go and preach to the Ninevites, but God gave him the same trust as before his "unauthorized absence."

This time instead of telling Jonah to "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it," He told him to go and preach what I will say to you to preach. This biblical account of Jonah tells us why God will most of the time lead us to His calling one step at a time, without giving us the entire plan. God does this with us often; He gives us what He knows we can handle at one time.

We sometimes have a difficult time focusing our attention on what God is trying to tell us. So God very often must push, pull, and plea with us to get us moving in the direction He wants us to travel. Then God will remind us from His Holy Word why we serve Him, His love for us in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:14-20).

We become prisoners of our past patterns. We get confused between preserving God's Word with maintaining a program. We see how things have always been, and we do not want it to change; we are perfectly content with the status quo. However, changing doctrine and changing methods are two different things. The Word of God will remain the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow and all time to come. However, the strategies and programs that move our ministries along will occasionally need changing to promote growth in our church.

We should always be open to the change where God leads us. We also should never forget that just because we slip and do not follow God the first time He calls us to a particular ministry, His love, grace and mercy will still be there after we repent and accept the change of his calling upon our lives. We must live with the faith that necessitates our moving out and beyond our comfort zones.

All Children of God are to completely surrender ourselves to Christ Jesus and His will for their lives. Although we will never reach that ultimate goal in this life (Galatians 2:20; Philippians 1:21) we should be striving for it every day. Christ is the fountain of all power in heaven and on earth, though some deny it. When an EKG shows no brain activity in a human body, they are considered "Brain Dead." The brain is the main control center for all human life, so Christ Jesus is the source of all power and energy to His body, the church.
