Romans 14:8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
If it was in the
perfect will of God, all believers could have entered the glory of heaven at
the heartbeat of our salvation. There is no requirement in the provision for
our eternal life that we live for many years in human form. Within the realm of
possibilities, someone could go home to be with their savior at the very moment
of conversion. But our sanctification is a long and challenging development,
and perfection is out of our reach here in this life. Our spiritual growth
process is in place because it is in the perfect will of God. Although He could
have taken us home at the first breath of our salvation, it was not in His
will. Many question why God did not take them home as soon as they accepted
Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The simple answer is because it was His
will; however, there is a more detailed explanation.
Why has God left
His children to live in a world that seems to become more evil as every day
passes? Why did He not take us home to be with Him as soon as we accepted Him
as our Lord and Savior? The answer is we are here in a lost, dark, and dying
world to tell others about the saving grace of Christ Jesus. As His children,
we are left here to let those without Christ know that there is a way to
eternal life in a glorious place called heaven. The path to God is not paved
with good works and marvelous deeds; there is but one way, Christ Jesus (John
14:6). Many of you are reading this and saying this is nothing new; I have
known this since I accepted Christ many years ago. However, there are billions
of lost people in the world, even in our circle of friends, who are lost and
headed for an awful place called Hell.
Our Bible study
class at Pioneer Baptist Church started a simple soul-winning program that
requires only a few minutes of Prayer every day. We used a 3X5 index card and
wrote five people in our circle of friends we knew were lost. Then, we posted
this list somewhere that we will see them several times every day and remind us
to pray for the salvation of these people. This program is not to replace
the directives of Christ Jesus to spread the gospel to the world (Acts1:7-8;
Matthew 28:16-20), but there is power unknown to the world in Prayer.
God left us all
here one second after we accepted Him as our Lord and Savior for only one
reason, to tell the world about what Christ Jesus, did for us on the Cross.
Furthermore, to let those in our sphere of influence know that there is a way
to eternal life with God. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9).
