Bible Verse of the Day Thursday September 23rd 2021

Psalm 5:3 In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

Some people begin their day in a rush, in a hurry. I’m sure we have all hit the snooze button one time too many and realized we have to rush around and cut some corners to get to work, school, or even church on time. Then we recognize the importance of knowing how to multi-task because we find ourselves trying to do three or four things simultaneously. Next, we become short-tempered with our families, lashing out at the most insignificant of issues. Then we go out into the world ill-armed and not sure of what lies ahead of us in our daily walks.

This scenario is caused by not starting our day off with God. In this verse of Scripture from the fifth Psalm, David tells us that God hears his voice every day and waits expectantly on the Lord. David began every one of his days by lifting his voice to the Lord, knowing that God would be near him with every step that he took. It would be wise for all of us to take from David’s example, starting our days of lifting our voices to our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, with faith that He is in control and that we will not have to take the first step that day alone, He will be there leading our every move.

In Mark 1:35, we see that our Lord and Savior maintained the same pattern; early in the morning, He went out to a solitary place and had His morning prayers. We should learn and take from this excellent example of Christ Jesus and start every one of our days in earnest prayer. Sometimes we find that we are so busy in the morning that we don’t have time to stop and go to the Lord in prayer. Yet, the earthly ministry of Christ Jesus was more engaged than any of us will ever experience, and He always took time in the morning to let the Father hear His voice. In the verses right before Mark 1:35 (Mark 1:30-34), we can find a typical day in the ministry of Jesus. In that one day, He ministered to and healed Peter’s mother-in-law, met with an untold number of sick and demon-possessed, and then apparently the entire town gathered at his door.

Commit to God all the problems and struggles you have to face and wait expectantly on Him to show us the way. Then, we will lose the necessity for worry because we will be expecting the answers to those prayers that we laid before God, in our morning prayers. As the old gospel song says, “it is no secret what God can do,” If we begin every day placing our faith and trust in Christ Jesus, He will be there with us throughout every part of our daily walk.
