Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday September 15th 2021

Romans 8:10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.

The term "righteousness" has taken a beating down through the ages. The world views righteousness as the desired conduct or behavior in a relationship with other people or how we treat those we deal with in business, legal or personal matters. In God's Holy Word, we will find that righteousness will be described as one that is justified or in a right position with God, placing our faith and trust in our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus (Psalm 33:18-22).  We cannot bring ourselves into a state of perfect righteousness; the standard for this level is too high for any human being to reach in this life. However, the good news is that a state of true righteousness is possible for any person, but only through the washing away of sin through the blood of Christ Jesus and having the indwelling of God's holy spirit Because of the substitutionary work of Christ Jesus on the Cross on our behalf. Jesus became sin, and we were made righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21). On the Cross, God viewed Jesus as if He were a sinner, even though He was perfectly holy, righteous, and pure. Therefore, we are treated as righteous, even though we are defiled sinners (Romans 3:23; Romans 3:10).  On the Cross of Calvary Christ Jesus substituted our sins with His perfect righteousness so that we might one day stand before almighty God. He will not see our sins because Jesus paid the sin debt we owed; God will only see the true righteousness of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

Because sin came into the world in the Garden of Eden, we as human beings are subject to natural death. Our physical deaths will separate our spirits from our natural bodies; however, God will reunite our spirits with our celestial bodies at the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Physical death in this life is seen by so many as a time to mourn. However, for the Christian, the one that has been justified and made righteous by Christ Jesus, it is a time of celebration. On the day of our birth, we became sinners as soon as we drew our first breath. However, at our last heartbeat, followers of Christ Jesus are immediately separated from sin and suffering.

Octavius Winslow said: "The body must die. But what of that? The spirit is life. And the life-inspired spirit will come back again, re-enter and re-animate the slumbering dust; and now, remodeled and spiritualized, it will be with Christ, and all the saints in the new heaven and the new earth will dwell in righteousness."
