1 Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God's household, and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the Gospel of God?
As followers and believers in Christ Jesus, we will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ to answer for what we did with the good news of the Gospel of Christ Jesus (Romans 14:10-12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). God will judge us concurring to what we did with the knowledge of Christ Jesus, that He gave us all through the Holy Word of God. At this judgment, only the saved, born-again believers will stand before our creator and answer for who we say Jesus was in our lives.
The lost of this world will stand before
the Great White Throne Judgment, which is the sentencing phase of their
adjudication, that is an eternity separated from God in an awful place called
Hell (Revelation 20:11-15). These people spent their lives on this earth trying
to keep themselves separated from God, in rebellion to Him, and God will allow them
the desire of their heart, which is separation from Him for eternity.
For Christians, the Judgment Seat of
Christ will be a place of judgment and a place of rewards as well. Christ Jesus
will evaluate our service to Him and others through our Love for Him and all
people. Our Lord and Savior will look at
how we used the time, resources, and talent He bestowed upon us for His service
and the furtherance of the Gospel.
We can work through plans that are what
we want to do, our will for our life; there are also plans that God has for us,
His will for our lives. Every morning when we get up and place our feet on
God's green earth, we have a choice, our plans, or His will for our lives.
Since this earth we live on will one day burn with fire and be destroyed (2
Peter 3:10-13), anything that we build here on this earth is temporary. The
only permanent building we can engage in is the treasures we store up in Heaven
(Matthew 6:19-21). We can take two
obvious paths here in this life: walking with our Lord and Savior, doing His
bidding. The other is to follow the lead of Satan, who will tell us that we
should forget about God and follow our plans and schemes. The latter will lead
to the second death (Revelation 21:8), a permanent dwelling in the "Lake
of Fire," alienated from God for all time and eternity. The former,
however, will lead to an existence of joy, ecstasy, and delight that no words
in any language can ever describe.
The unique part of all of this is that nothing or no power will ever separate us from the Love of God in this life or the life to come (Romans 8:38-39).
