Bible Verse of the Day Thursday December 16th 2021

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

A family was driving in an unfamiliar city and was not able to find a certain address they were looking for. They stopped and asked a gentleman walking along the street if he could give them directions to their desired location. The man replied, “Well, let’s see. Go two blocks north, turn right, proceed six blocks and, wait, no go four blocks south to the first light turn right and stay on, no that won’t work either. Just turn at the corner and go west, no that won’t do, the new interstate is going through there.” The man finally blurted out, “I’m sorry folks, you just can’t get there from here!”

This story reminds us of how catastrophic our plight would be if God had not loved us so much He became flesh and dwelt among us. If on that glorious morning in a stable in Bethlehem the Savior of the world had not been born, we would have no way to one day stand in the presence of our Lord and Savior. It would be necessary to announce to a world of lost sinners “sorry you just can’t get there from here.” We would have to try to get to Heaven on our own merits and good works and no way will that ever happen.

Contrary to popular world belief, there are not multiple roads or ways to get to heaven, there is only one. Jesus was not saying that He simply knew the way, but that He was the way to heaven. The way to an eternity with God is not only knowing who Jesus is and what He has done for us, the demons bound for hell for eternity know who Jesus was, but we must also accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

Jesus was born into this world to live a sinless life, that we could never live, and die on The Cross to pay the penalty for our sins, He was the perfect Lamb to be sacrificed so that His perfect blood would atone for our sins. When that stone was rolled away and Jesus claimed the victory over Satan, sin, and death He allowed us to claim that same victory, to spend eternity in Heaven with him, by placing our trust in Him.

Because of what our precious Lord and Savior did on the Cross of Calvary it can now be said: “you can now get there from here.” The question is: have you placed your faith and trust in Jesus and asked Him to come into your life as not only your Savior but your Lord as well? If you truly have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior His will for your life will be on your priority list and not on your options list.
