1 Timothy 1:15-17 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen
According to President Franklin Roosevelt, December the 7th, 1941, is a day that will live in infamy. It was the day that a military force from the Nation of Japan carried out a surprise attack on the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It created a divide and a sense of hatred between the two nations that lasted for decades.
The man that led the attack on Pearl Harbor was Mitsuo Fuchida. He was one of only a few of the seventy officers that returned alive after the raid. He also had another close call when he got shot down during the Battle of Midway, but again he survived to get back to Japan. The day the U.S dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, there was an American POW, Jacob DeShazer, in Japan that felt led by the Holy Spirit to pray for peace. DeShazer had been a POW since 1942.
The two men, Fuchida and DeShazer, met in 1950 when DeShazer returned to Japan as a Missionary. Through the testimony of DeShazer, the former Japanese pilot, Fuchida denounced Buddhism and accepted Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior. This testimony serves to remind us of the power and faithfulness of God, who can overcome the deepest darkness and change lives, saving even the most least likely person that we can imagine.
Let us never get it in our minds that there is someone so bad, so far removed from the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus that the creator of all in Heaven and earth, almighty God, cannot enter their lives and lead them to the saving grace of Christ Jesus. The Word of God is unique; it has the power to produce faith that comes from hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17). The winning of any soul to Christ Jesus begins with a prayer. The question is, who prayed for you before you came to Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior? The more important question is: for whom are you praying?
