1 John 3:19-22 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
The truth and God are inseparable; they are the same. When we stand before God at the judgment seat of Christ (Romans 14:10-12; 1 Corinthians 4:5; 2 Corinthians 5:10), we will have no regrets, and our hearts will not condemn us if we have done the very best we can towards God and all of those that we have run across. This verse of scripture will stand to reassure all children of God that sometimes, even though our hearts may condemn us, God does not (Romans 8:1). A display of Love for God and all people is the evidence that believers will not stand condemned before God. Sometimes, we tend to blame ourselves when we do not help someone who asks for our help, however, we should not blame ourselves. We cannot help everyone that comes to us for assistance. We should always go to God in prayer because He knows who and when we can help someone much more than we do. The animal sacrifices covered their sin in the Old Testament but did not do away with it. Consequently, the sacrifices did not make their consciences completely clear; that could only happen through faith and trust in the promise of the coming Messiah.
Jesus was that promised
Messiah, and through His substitutionary work on the Cross of Calvary, He
removed our sins, and we can go through life with a clear conscience, as long
as our hearts are right with God. The second promise in this verse of scripture
today is that if our hearts are right before God, He will answer our prayers (1
Peter 3:12; 1 John 5:15; Ephesians 6:18; Mathew 7:7; Mark 11:24; John
14:13-14;), to name a few.
The sad part about this
entire issue is that we tend to create internal rules for ourselves to justify
our acceptance by our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus as humans. Then when we fall
short of our guidelines, we begin to feel an aura of guilt encompassing our
entire being. The good news is God is superior and grander than any rule or
regulation we might make up for ourselves, whether we are keeping those rules
or breaking them. God’s love and mercy far exceed our pathetic and sad attempts
to justify ourselves. The Good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus, the
indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit along with much prayer and bible study, will
empower us to live surrendered life and endeavor to keep God’s commandments. We
will sometimes fall short, but our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is always there
to pick us up when we fall.
