Daniel 2:1-3 In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled, and he could not sleep. So, the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king, he said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means. "
The
book of Daniel Chapters two (2) through seven (7)
speaks of the “Time of the Gentiles” that was referenced by Christ Jesus as
recorded in the Gospel of Luke. The time is approximately 600 BC until the
Second Coming of Christ Jesus. This period would not be the Rapture, but the
time Christ Jesus comes to set up His Kingdom, the New Heaven, and the New
Earth (Revelation 21 & 22).
Luke 21:24 They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
In the second year of the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar, he suffered from a recurring dream that he did not understand. After calling in all his magicians, soothsayers, and philosophers and still no explanation of the dream, it catapulted him into a state of uneasiness and anxiety. He viewed himself as the most powerful man of the day, which caused him a great state of shock.
This Biblical account is evidence that no matter how high the station one sees themselves in this life, or how great the unbeliever seems to be in the world’s estimation, they have no security or peace of mind through world control or power. With all the power King Nebuchadnezzar had, his triumph, accomplishments, and prominence, he could still not find the peace he so desperately craved and desired. Instead, he lived in a state of apprehension, timidity, and trepidation.
Earthly success, fame, or fortune will never bring about the peace that one can only know through Christ Jesus. It matters not how the amount of money we have hoarded away in our bank accounts; we will never know inner peace until we allow the Prince of Peace entrance into our lives, hearts, and souls. I saw a sticker on the bumper of a car once, and it stated that “the one with the most in the end wins.” An overabundance of worldly things is not the ultimate reality in life; that is only found through Christ Jesus in the treasures of the Holy Word of God, with the leading, guiding, and direction of the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. There is nothing amiss with having nice things in life; contrary to what some believe it is not money that is the root of all evil, it is the love of money that leads one down the path to dreams, which sometimes turns into a nightmare.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
