Psalm 138:4-5 May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord, when they hear what you have decreed. May they sing of the ways of the Lord for the glory of the Lord is great.
When
Christians sing their first song to the Lord is when we finally lay down our
encumbrances at the foot of the Cross of Calvary. Even the music from a choir
of Angels would not be as sweet as the first song of praise from a new
believer. So, when we lose our burdens at the Cross of Christ, we will go forth
singing blessed is the sweet name of Jesus and take my hand, precious Lord,
take my hand.
We
should always seek to relive that first instant when we realized that Christ
Jesus had forgiven our sins. What a sweet memory is the time when Jesus said to
us: I have blotted out your sins, and they will I will no longer hold them
against you. It was ecstasy when we lost the pain of our sins and realized that
we would never take away another step alone. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit and
His leading, guidance, and direction bring us to a point where we want to dance
in the streets and tell the world of the great love of Christ Jesus.
The
kings and earthly rulers generally do not care to praise God; they see
themselves above His deity. However, there will come a day that every knee will
bow, and everyone will confess God as the creator and sustainer of all life
(Romans 14:11); God does not desire all humanity to bow down before Him out of
some need within Himself. God is totally and completely aware that all good is
within Him. Furthermore, God knows that the only good in humanity occurs when
people surrender to Him. Judgment comes from God, as does grace and mercy;
God's judgment is necessary because people reject and despise His Grace.
This
verse speaks of the greatness of the glory of God. There are no worldly
measurements that can gauge just how formidable his power is or how loving and
gentle His Grace is. It should break our hearts when we look out at this lost,
dark, and dying world and see so many rejecting God's free offer of grace. God
left us here one heartbeat after we are saved for one reason and one reason
only. That is to be a witness to His love, grace, and mercy and tell the world
of the saving power of Christ Jesus. Let our lives, as saved believers in
Christ Jesus, stand as an example of the love, grace, and mercy of God.
