1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
As followers and believers in
Christ Jesus, we are no longer burdened by the Law (Romans 6:14). Jesus
fulfilled the Law on our behalf on the Cross of Calvary. We are mortal beings,
and physical death is a foregone reality. The victory over eternal death is
ours because of Jesus's sacrifice on the Cross and His resurrection from the
dead. In this verse, the word "gives" is in the present tense,
clearly showing that all that accept Christ as their Lord and Savior will
receive victory over eternal death. It is up to us, as humans, to accept or
deny the love, grace, and mercy offered to all people (John 3:16) for the gift
of eternal life. As surrendered servants to Christ Jesus, we need not fear
physical death because it is merely a vehicle that transports us to glory (2 Corinthians
5:8).
It is a great blessing as a
parent when we hear appreciative words from our children. God is deserving of
our praise and thankfulness every day of our lives. God's desire for all His
children is that we do not only soak up the benefits of Christianity. He longs
to hear from us every day in praise and thankfulness for all that He has done,
all that He continues to do, and life eternal with Him.
In this day in age, there is
too little praise for God and too little speaking to others about the great
blessing that stems from being a child of God. It is easy for us to deem
ourselves unworthy of God's love, grace, and mercy. However, worth does not
enter the big picture. We receive the mercy of God because of His grace. We
cannot receive God's amazing grace through any merit of our own. It could be
that the reason that some find it difficult to accept the mercy of God is that
His grace seems to be out of reach. We must never forget that there is nothing
that we have that God needs, But He has everything that we need, and He is more
than willing to bestow all of His grace upon us. The key that unlocks all of
God's miracles is total and complete surrender to Him. Let us always thank God
for sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins and raising Him from the dead.
Moreover, let us praise Him for the assurance of our salvation and eternal
life.
