Romans 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Christ Jesus lived a sinless life and
was willing to accept all who placed their faith and trust in Him into the
Royal family of God. Paul is telling us that just as Christ did for us, we
should accept others willingly and warmly, our dissimilarities and variances
notwithstanding (John 13:34-35).
Our Lord and Savior is the epitome and embodiment of accepting others; He
accepted all of us even with our weaknesses and imperfections. How can we
expect Christ Jesus to accept us if we are unwilling to accept others, even
with their flaws and failures (Matthew 6:14)? We
should never allow uncertain or insignificant issues to become a roadblock
between us and other brothers and sisters in Christ. Our method of handling
differences should pattern itself after how Jesus addressed them; Jesus said He
came not to be served but as a servant to others, and He humbled Himself to the
glory of God (Mark 10:45).
Christ Jesus accepted us to bring honor and glory to God. All
unity among Christians comes together so that there would be a magnification of
what and who God is. God is glorified when Jesus calls sinners to himself, and
a communal acceptance among brothers and sisters in Christ will glorify
God.
We might find it effortless and uncomplicated to be cordial to
all those with whom we have a solid and pleasant relationship. However, it can
become much more challenging to be open and friendly with those that diverge
from our way of thinking. Nevertheless, we are all brothers and sisters in
Christ Jesus, members of the royal family of God, and He loves all the same (1 John 3:1).
There is an excellent example of separation in God’s Church, denominationalism. There is nothing inherently wrong with separate denominations as long as there is no bitterness between the brothers and sisters in the different denominations. There is power in denominations, a group of like-minded people gathering together to worship and praise God to take the good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus to the ends of the earth.
All
denominations have good and evil, so what is the answer? The answer to this
dilemma is the answer to all questions in this life, and the one to come is
Christ Jesus. His grace and love are sufficient to make all of God’s church
thrive and flourish. It’s alright if we see a specific style of worship or
music genre different than others might see it. It’s okay if the service in
some churches might be more ceremonial than others. It’s alright if we want to
worship on Saturday instead of Sunday; as a matter of fact, we should be
worshipping every day.
