Romans 8:22-25 We know that all that God created has been groaning. It is in pain as if it were giving birth to a child. The created world continues to groan even now. And that’s not all. We have the Holy Spirit as the promise of future blessing. But we also groan inside ourselves. We do this as we look forward to the time when God adopts us as full members of his family. Then he will give us everything he has for us. He will raise our bodies and give glory to them. That’s the hope we had when we were saved. But hope that can be seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? We hope for what we don’t have yet. So, we are patient as we wait for it.
Since the fall in the Garden of Eden, all humankind has groaned for the restoration of all things. God created us human beings to live in a relationship with God and with all creation, but the fall brought disharmony with God and all His creation. God created us with a deep need and desire to know Him and have a personal relationship with Him. Genesis tells us we were made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and we will never be complete without a restoration of our relationship with Him.
God did not
leave us without hope; in His great love and mercy towards us, He set in motion
a great plan that would allow all of us to experience a restoration to Him in
this life, as well as a promise of eternal life spent with Him. This promise
was a Savior that would atone for our sins (Genesis 3:15).
God would
become flesh and dwell among us so that he could sacrifice His perfect human
blood to cover our sins (Leviticus 17:11; Hebrews 9:22). Our Lord and Savior,
Christ Jesus, joyfully and freely went to the Cross and gave His life so that
we might enjoy the gift of Salvation. We sing songs of joy and celebrate what
God has done for us through Christ Jesus, His death, burial, and resurrection.
He has sent us a Savior who gives us eternal life through our faith in Him
because of His sacrifice. Our hope comes from God and God alone.
God loves us so much that He stepped out of eternity and took on humanity with the incarnation. He did this so that He could pay the price we could never pay for the remission of our sin. By this grace act, God gives us the hope of a future where the curse of evil in this world reverses. And because of God's love and hope in Him, we have been adopted into the family of God. We are His children through our faith in Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When God stepped out of eternity and took on flesh, joining His divinity with our humanity, we received the gift of eternal life and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God. This marvelous gift means He is with us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we will never know a heartbeat that our Lord and Savior is not right there beside us, holding our hand.
