Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday August 3rd, 2022

Ephesians 5:19-20 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This verse is speaking of a life of consistent praise and worship. When we are entirely surrendered and sold out to our Lord and Savior, He will fill us with the Holy Spirit. The degree of the Holy Spirit's filling depends on our surrender to God. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a feeling we get only when the worship service is good; it is a life of consistent submission to God. When we experience the filling of the Holy Spirit of God, our natural response will be songs of praise. The communication and relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ will become a sweeter bond when our hearts become filled with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.

Paul teaches us through the letter to the Thessalonians and other writings that we should always rejoice (1 Thessalonians 5:16). Always give thanks to God for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes it is hard to praise God and be thankful for everything when we are going through a rough patch of trials and tribulations. However, if we keep in mind that everything God sends us through is for our spiritual growth and His glory, we will not have a problem sending up praises to God; it will be a natural part of who we are (Romans 8:28; James 1:2).

Once we get to this Spirit-filled life of joy, praise, and worship, it is not something we should keep to ourselves; we need to share it with the world. Before Jesus and His disciples went to Gethsemane the night before the Cross of Calvary, they sang hymns of praise (Matthew 26:30). When Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into that Philippian Jail, they sang hymns of praise (Acts 16:25). The point is that no matter how great the trial or tribulation is before us, singing and praising God will help us see that the rocky road or rough seas we are about to navigate are for our good, and God’s Glory (1 Peter 4:12-13).

Walking in the Spirit, we will have a natural joy displayed as music from the heart. God will put a song in the hearts and souls of those who obey His will. The nature of God’s desire is that we praise and thank him when we are on the mountain top and in the valley. The highest order of spirituality is the capability to give thanks to our Lord and Savior, no matter the circumstances. When things were going wrong for Job, he continued praising God and giving thanks. The object of our worship, praise, and thanks to God should be to bring honor and glory to His holy Name (2 Corinthians 4:15; 9:12,15).
