1 Peter 1:21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
Only through the person and work of Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary and our faith in Him are we free from the slave marketplace of death and sin. We can only claim victory over death and sin through faith and belief that Christ Jesus is the true promised Messiah and that He came to earth to suffer and die on the Cross to atone for our sins. Only through His most glorious resurrection can we be sure we have eternal life. This verse speaks of believers in God, which can only come about if we believe in the blood offering of Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary on our behalf.
It is not sufficient to
only believe in the historical aspect of Jesus from His birth to His
Resurrection. Jesus is the gate of the sheepfold that leads to eternal life; He
is the light that guides our every step in this life and eternity. In Christ
and Christ alone, we find justification through His grace and mercy, granting
us access to the heavenly realm. There is no other way that we may find peace
with God except to be clothed in the righteousness of Christ Jesus. We cannot
access the redemption we might mistakenly think we have or with the trapping of
worldly clutter. It comes to us only through the precious blood of our Lord and
Savior shed for all people on the Cross of Calvary (1 Timothy 2:5).
Because Christ Jesus
walked out of the tomb, he lay in for three days; we can have victory over hell
and death. Our faith in Him will solidly secure for us the assured hope of our
resurrection to eternal life. However, God positions the choice of our faith in
Him into our own hands. We decide which one we want, eternal death or eternal
life.
I saw a church marquee
once that stated: "Eternity, smoking or non-smoking." The death of
Christ Jesus and His resurrection become one together. The death of Christ
Jesus would not be ample if it were to do nothing but plant us in a grave. The
death of Christ Jesus without the resurrection is not the whole gospel,
The Apostle Peter
confirmed to everyone down through the ages that our faith and hope in Christ
Jesus lay soundly on the truth of the Word of God. This is because we believe
in God's promises and believe Him when He says He will never leave or forsake
us. The word believes shows up over 90 times in the Gospel of John alone as an
appeal to our becoming a follower and believers in Christ Jesus.
(John 3:16) For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
