2 John 1:2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
When
the truth of the Word of God lodges itself in the human heart, mind, and soul,
no carnal or worldly power will be able to displace or extricate it. Therefore,
we do not treat Jesus as a house guest; He is the Master of our domain.
When
we truly experience the power of the Holy Spirit's indwelling, no fame or
fortune could convince us to turn our backs on Jesus and walk away. There is a
treasure unknown to humanity worth more than all the gold and silver that has
ever existed, enclosed in the assurance that we have as Children of God that
the truth of God's Word will be with us for eternity. Many worldly facts come
and go, some we might outgrow as we add years to our being. We cannot face the
truth of God's Word in a temporary status because, unlike material facts that
change as we mature, the sweet nectar of the flower of the Word of God is the
same for the novice and veteran of the walk with Christ Jesus.
There
is a truth of God's Word that is sometimes hard to swallow and painful to
ingest, and that is the truth that we are all sinners and in constant need of
the forgiveness of Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23; 3:10). There is also a truth that
is the most exciting news and the most blessed intelligence that anyone can
ever receive, the fact that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved
(Romans 10:13).
There
can be no other road to travel than to love others when we honestly and
sincerely comprehend and accept God's love for us, in and through our Lord and
Savior, Christ Jesus. God is the personification and embodiment of love, and
when we genuinely love God loving others will be a natural response. The truth
of God's Word brings Christians into a fellowship unknown to the carnal world.
The world holds to the premise that it matters not what we believe as long as
we love other people. However, we must never bend the truth of God's Word to
oblige a particular situation or relationship with another Human being.
The
principal source for God speaking to one of his Children is His Holy Word. Our
spiritual growth is closely related to our outlook and viewpoint toward Bible
study and prayer life. The truth spoken of in our text verse today is Jesus,
who said He was the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Jesus dwells
within us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and He will never leave or
forsake us. We will always have Christ Jesus through all eternity, which is the
truth that will never change or diminish.
