Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens
The purpose of the Bible is that God desires for us, as His children, to know and believe that He knows our needs better than we do. Furthermore, His passion is for us to have faith in Him and trust Him for all things. God created this world we live in and will always be in total control of everything. Nothing has ever happened or will ever arrive in this world that God is unaware of; nothing will ever take God by surprise. God preordained the four seasons in the beginning, and He is mindful of every aspect of every human being that draws breath. Unfortunately, we often get to a place where we think we know better than God, especially in our own lives. Sometimes we ask something of God not in His will for our lives, and we wonder why God has not answered our prayers.
Sometimes we experience
conflicts with God’s will for our lives. During these times, there will not be
some lightning bolt or a message written in the sky. At times God speaks to us
in a whisper and void of our close attention; we might miss His will for our
lives. A wise old pastor was counseling a young man in his congregation. As
they sat, the learned Pastor was almost whispering, and the young man had to
get closer to the Pastor to hear what he had to say. Finally, the young man was
just inches away from the old Pastor before he could listen to the advice from
that wise old Preacher. The Pastor explained that was the way of God; we must
be very close to God if we really want to hear His message to us concerning our
path in life.
King Solomon, in this writing,
brought to the attention of all eyes that fall on this great book of wisdom
that God has established certain times and seasons that affect the lives of
every human being that lives and influences all things that occur, down through
the history of time. God knows the beginning and the end of all aspects of
human existence in this world. God controls all that occurs in our lives and
the world around us. If we will but turn over control of our lives to God and
stop trying to effect change on our own, we will find a sweeter and more useful
life.
Some people have a bumper
sticker on their vehicle that reads, “God is my Co-Pilot.” But unfortunately,
if God is your Co-pilot, you need to switch seats. Give God the pilot’s seat,
and the flight of life will be much less turbulent.
