Isaiah 58:11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
The
thesis in the writing of the Prophet Isaiah was geared toward the Nation of
Israel and laid out God's redemption plan. Isaiah repeatedly called on the
Children of Israel to turn from their sinful ways and surrender themselves back
to the ways of God. Isaiah recurrently brings back to their memory that God has
promised a Messiah to take away the sins of the world. However, if they did not
turn from their sinful lifestyle, they would face exile from the land promised
to Abraham and his descendants. The Prophet had a good news-bad news scenario
for the children of Israel, God was soon going to punish the countries that
were mistreating the Israelites, but He was also going to punish the nation of
Israel for straying so far from His way. In the closing annals of Isaiah's
writing, God consoles and reassures the Israelites with His promised liberation
from their adversaries, reinstatement to their promised land, and the coming of
the promised Messiah.
This
scripture verse promises that God's Holy Spirit will always lead, guide, and
direct our every step. The truth of the Word of God has never failed and has
never changed from when Isaiah wrote these words until today and will continue
for eternity. The plan of salvation God had for the Israelites is just as
relevant today as when Isaiah penned these words. When we hunger and thirst for
God's righteousness, He will gratify and fulfill our desire to follow His ways
instead of the way of the world. He will direct and guide us on the path that
leads to eternal life through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
God
will forever hold us tightly in His loving arms. No one or any power will be
able to snatch us from the loving hands of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus
(John 10:28). Our scorched souls have been invigorated and revitalized through
the water of life that can only come from God. They will be a spring whose
water never fails. Christ Jesus provides for all our physical and spiritual
needs because He is our creator, savior, and provider.
It
matters not how far we drift or stray from the comfort and love of his mighty
arms, or when the trials and tribulations of this life have us down, there will
be a never-ending river of God's love
and grace to water our Garden of life. Furthermore, genuinely following God
will refresh others because Christ Jesus, through the living water within them
(John 4:14, John 7:37-39), will reveal Himself through them. We can rest
assured that Christ Jesus has prepared a place for us where He is, and He is
coming back to take us to be where He is for eternity (John 14:3).
