Bible Verse of the Day Friday March 3rd, 2023

Philippians 3:3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh.

When the Christian Church first breathed life after the coming of the comforter, God's Holy Spirit, The Jewish leaders, as well as the majority of the Jewish people, fought against the Church of Christ Jesus. Some fought against the Church with more tenacity than others, Saul being a prime example. Some Jews saw the Church as a sect or cult within Judaism that needed to be removed by any means necessary. These Jewish people did not comprehend the Prophecies, the Law of Moses, or the Psalms enough to see that Christ Jesus was the true, long-awaited, promised Messiah that came to take away the sins of the World.

Even today, much confusion surrounds the true Gospel of Christ Jesus. Yet today, many attempts to utilize the Mosaic Law combined with the Grace of God and replace faith with good works and deeds. Many tried to incorporate Jewish festivals and traditions into the Church of Christ Jesus to misperceive Judaism as Christianity. Today there are those workers of Satan that seek to confuse what God must carry out in and through His chosen Nation, Israel, and the work that He is undertaking in these last days in and through the Body of Christ, that is, the Church.

As followers and believers in Christ Jesus today, just like Paul and many other great saints of old, we must put no confidence in the Flesh. That is to say that there is nothing that we can do that would satisfy our sin debt before God. There is nothing in and of the earth that a person can acquire that would impress God; God does not require anything we have or will ever accomplish.

True worship of God comes only on the rock of our salvation, the solid rock of ages, the true promised Messiah, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We, as humans, can’t do any good works or virtuous deeds that will justify us before God. The only justification God will accept is the Work Christ Jesus did on the Cross of Calvary on our behalf. We express joy in Christ because God's exaltation is through the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Therefore, followers of Jesus should have no self-reliance in the Flesh. God did not say we should have just a little confidence; God indicated that we are to have less than a little—we are to have no faith in our Flesh.

The opposite side of today's Christianity is heavily infused with "self-image" and "focusing on our capability," God's Holy Word teaches us not to trust the Flesh. Conversely, we must search outside ourselves to place our faith and trust in the Lord. There is a question we all must face today. Is self-reformation our priority, or are we placing our faith and trust in the Work of Christ on the Cross?
