2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight.
In this temporary state that
we exist in now, it is unachievable to experience the glory and amazement of
our glorious life after this shell we live in has ceased to exist. This is why
it is critical and imperative that we apply this reality to our lives by faith.
As saved born again Christians, we can be confident that our eternal life with
Christ Jesus is secure, and faith is the vehicle that propels us to that
certainty (2 Corinthians 5:6). Faith will become unnecessary when we are at
home with the Lord because our eternal state of being will have become a
reality.
As followers and believers in
Christ Jesus, we do not live by our passions or current state of mind. Faith
means that we trust and believe that God will never leave us or forsake us, no
matter what rocky road we might find ourselves navigating. We can be assured
through the Holy Word of God that when we close our eyes in this life, we will
open them in the presence of the one that loves us as no human being can. When
we enter our final sleep and rest in this life, we will wake up in glory.
The justification for our sins
that Christ Jesus won for us on the Cross of Calvary, like our sanctification,
our spiritual growth, is a gift from God. This special unique gift cannot be
earned, and we are not deserving of it, by no stretch of the imagination, but
through faith, we can enjoy the benefits here in this life. Faith believes
every word, every syllable, every declaration that God has spoken in His Holy
Word is true. It is trusting, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Bible is
God's Holy Word and that every aspect of it comes through Him and Him alone.
Faith is our assurance that all things we hope for in and through Christ Jesus
will most certainly come to pass.
The life of a Follower and
believer in Christ Jesus seems to the world to be an oxymoron because it
disputes the validity of worldly wisdom. The world teaches that you can only
achieve something if you work hard for it, but there is no work through which
one can know the salvation of the soul. Further confusion of the world comes
because once we have received justification through Christ Jesus, eternal life,
we are then to die to ourselves and turn our backs on everything that centers
around ourselves, so that we can live for Christ Jesus.
Our faith is not only
essential for the grace and mercy from Christ Jesus that brings eternal life,
but critical in living the life of victory that Christ meant for us when He suffered
the shame and pain on the Cross for the justification of our sin. Living a life
of faith basically means that we ultimately believe and trust that all God has
said in His Holy Word is the truth and nothing but the truth.
