Revelation
6:8 I
looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and
Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of
the earth to kill by sword, famine, and plague, and by the wild beasts of the
earth.
Very few people in the world, especially in the western
hemisphere, have not heard of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. Yet, volumes
have been written on these riders of destruction, both in poem and pose, and
numerous movies have been released in a pathetic attempt to portray God's wrath
dispensed on a non-believing, Christ Jesus-denying world. In addition, there
have been untold numbers of Sunday school, bible study teachers, preachers, and
evangelists that have spoken to even higher untold numbers of people concerning
the horrifying and dreadful events that are going to occur to usher in the time
of the Great Tribulation, after the rapture of God's people from this dark and
dying world.
There will be people left
on this earth that will still be in denial, even shouting out claims of peace
and safety as the terrible events of the Tribulation are beginning. There may
even be some that are applauding and hailing the first rider on the white
horse. These unsuspecting people believe in the false peace plan as things
begin to crumble around them and soon tremble and attempt to escape the carnage
that will accompany these four riders.
As John the Apostle
watched the beginning carnage and slaughter of the Great Tribulation, he saw
the fourth horseman, on a pale horse, with death and hades following close
behind him. These four horsemen were given authorization by God to kill all in
their paths through sword, famine, and plague, as well as by the earth's wild
animals.
Down through the ages in
world history, evil, tyrannical despots and authoritarian rulers have
exterminated and annihilated millions of people. Other than the two centuries
of the period of "Pax Romana," where the world knew peace and stability,
nations have risen against each other. Humanity's lust for power and popularity
has enslaved and slaughtered untold numbers of people. However, these evil,
vicious, and sinful times do not even come close to portraying the massacre,
slaughter, and atrocity that will accompany these "four horsemen of the
Apocalypse."
We can rest assured that
all that have surrendered their hearts, minds, bodies, and souls to Christ
Jesus will not have to experience this bloodbath and scenes of carnage. All
born-again saved believers and followers of Christ Jesus that are alive when
the Tribulation begins will be taken home to be with the Lord. All who have
died in Christ Jesus and the raptured saints will be with the Lord for eternity
(1
Thessalonians 4:16-17).
As saved, born-again believers in Christ Jesus, we will not have to experience the horrors of the Great Tribulation; let us never forget the untold numbers of unsaved people. Among these countless and voluminous people, we will find our friends, family members, parents, children, and friends that we have yet to come into contact with, who need someone to speak to them concerning the saving grace of Christ Jesus. Some may falsely believe this is the job of evangelists, missionaries, preachers, and teachers. However, when Jesus ascended back to his glory in heaven, He left us, His followers, with one primary assignment, to spread the good news of the gospel to all that reside on this tiny sphere we are all floating around in space on (Acts 1:8). We are left here on this earth one second after we experience salvation for one reason and one reason only, to lead people to the only way to eternal life, Christ Jesus our Lord, and Savior.
