Bible Verse of the Day Friday April 21st, 2023

1 Timothy 4:4-5 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

The academics of our current world are much too often directly opposed to the truth of God's Word. For example, the world teaches that humanity is at its core sound. However, the bible says that humans' hearts are fraudulent and devious and cannot be trusted (Jeremiah 17:9). The world holds God responsible when catastrophe strikes, criticizes, and blames Him for being unfeeling hardhearted, and powerless. When a massive hurricane or tornado flattens an entire community or city, the world says that God must not care about people. However, this in no way, shape, or form could come close to the Truth because God loves the world so much that He sent His one and only Son to suffer and die on the Cross to atone for the sins of the World (John 3:16).

In most cases, the world's philosophies directly oppose the truth of God's Word. Nevertheless, God says that everything He has provided for us is good, and we should not reject any of His creations. The stipulation is that we must receive it with thanksgiving and praise for the creator of all in heaven and all on earth. This section of scripture was Paul's response to the legalist and Judaizers, claiming that Christians should not eat meat sacrificed in Pagan rituals. These legalists were also forbidding marriage, which God so graciously gave us for our benefit and our good. God has declared that no one should reject the food He provided because of some false religious teaching or belief. God made this truly clear to Peter in his vision right before he went to visit Cornelius, a gentile and Roman centurion (Acts 10:9-15)

As followers and believers in Christ Jesus, we should seek God's direction through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to determine if it is truly God speaking to us. There will always be followers of Satan that will attempt to disguise themselves as messengers from God. Nevertheless, we can always find the truth in God's Word, and if anything we hear from some church leader goes against the truth found in God's Word, we should shun it and them.

The Old and the New Testaments speak of a time of turning away from the Truth of God's Word and the proper worship of God. Unfortunately, there will always be those that seek after their fame and fortune and do not hesitate to use God's Word to deceive and mislead people falsely. We must be able to discern and differentiate between the truth of God and the lies of Satan. The only way we will ever be able to see the lie through the truth is an excellent familiarity with the truth. If one is not grounded in studying God's Word and daily prayer, Satan can slip any falsehood he desires into our lives. This verse ends with the message that nothing will be good for us without sincere, heartfelt prayer and God's blessing.
