Bible Verse of the Day Monday April 24th, 2023

Hebrews 3:3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.

Moses was most certainly considered a faithful servant of God; however, Father God bestowed greater honor on His Son, Christ Jesus. To the Children of Israel, Moses and the Law were the steppingstones they counted on as they walked through the dangerous waters of life. Unfortunately, some Jewish Christians were reverting to the Mosaic Law instead of making Christ Jesus the focus and dominance of their daily walks. The contrast in this scripture comparing Jesus and Moses was not to malign or belittle Moses in no way, shape, form, or fashion. Instead, this message from the writer to the Hebrew believers and followers of Christ Jesus was to demonstrate the superiority of the New Covenant brought by Christ Jesus over the Old Covenant of the Law. The writer's thesis is that although Moses was a great and faithful servant in the "house of God," Christ Jesus built the house. When we see some excellent architectural work, we marvel at the building's splendor, but the building's honor and glory always go to the builder.

The distinction and divergence contrasting Jesus and Moses are two completely different classifications. Moses was a faithful servant in the house, but Christ Jesus was the house's builder. He is the house. The supreme honor and glory given to Jesus was because of who he was, God in the flesh. Moses' honor and glory came through his works and deeds for God, but Christ Jesus was God. Moses bore witness to the coming of the true promised Messiah, but Jesus was the true promised Messiah.

There is a massive difference between what the Old Covenant meant to the Earth's people and what the New Covenant has brought to a lost, dark, and dying world. Christ Jesus rescinded and nullified the Old Covenant, nailing the law to the Cross (Colossian 2:14). During the period of the Old Covenant, faithful servants of God awaited the coming of the promised Messiah; the New Covenant brought the promised Messiah to the world.

God highly praised Moses. We can see evidence of this through the radiance shown on his face when he came down from the mountain after his encounter with God (Exodus 34:29-35). However, the superiority of the glory shown to Christ Jesus was evident at His baptism (Matthew 3:16-17), his transfiguration (Mark 9:2-7), and most definitively as witnessed when He walked out of the tomb on the most glorious day that the world had ever beheld.

The good news for us this day is that we, as followers and believers in Christ Jesus, are being constructed into a spiritual house to become part of His royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:4-5). This verse is a formidable and mighty testimony to the deity of Christ Jesus. Since God is the creator of all in heaven and on Earth, and Jesus constructed the House of God, Christ Jesus was God in the flesh while He was on Earth. After His ascension, He is and will always be the eternal living God.
