Jeremiah 1:9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.
Long before God called
Jeremiah to his prophetic role, He gave the young Jeremiah the words to say.
Jeremiah was not expressing his personal opinions or ideas; he was declaring
the truth from God, God's Holy Word. When God called Moses to go and set His people
free from their servitude in Egypt, Moses' primary concern was that the people
would not believe him (Exodus 4:1). God showed Moses that it would be God's
Word that he was speaking, not his own words, through several miracles. We also
see that God instructed the Prophet Ezekiel to speak God's Word to the people
(Ezekiel 3:10-11).
The Apostles of Christ Jesus
were confident that when t the Jewish leaders put them on trial for this new
Gospel they were preaching, God would give them the words to speak. God assured
them that it would be the Holy Spirit of God speaking through them, not their
own words (Matthew 10:20). The followers and believers in Christ Jesus in the
early days of the birth of the Church could have perfect peace in times of
immense testing, having confidence that the Holy Spirit of God would be
speaking through them (Luke 12:11-12). Jesus told His disciples of the
hardships and tribulations they would face throughout their earthly lives;
Jesus also assured them that He would give them the words to speak that their
foes and antagonists could not defend against (Luke 21:14-15).
Today we have been given the
Holy Word of God, the Bible, and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit to guide and
direct us to understand and comprehend what God is telling us. Unfortunately,
there will always be Satan workers attempting to contradict God's Word and put
forward a false gospel. One of the most dangerous statements a teacher or
preacher of God's Word can utter is: "in my opinion." God's Word is
not open-ended or incomplete; it is all anyone needs to know to develop a
personal relationship with God through Christ Jesus.
Some today say that the Bible
is incomplete, and that new books and prophecies come from God daily. The Old
Testament from Genesis to Malachi is a prophecy of the Promised Messiah's
coming to take away the World's sins. Christ Jesus is the Promised Messiah, and
some did not accept that in the days Jesus was on the earth. Many today are
waiting for more prophecies from God and more books to come to light. The sad
aspect is that many will go away to eternal separation from God in their vein
attempt to find the rest of the story. When Jesus said from the Cross, "it
is finished," He referred to His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. His
sinless, innocent blood that He shed on the Cross is what washes away my sins
and your sins, there is no other way to salvation, and that will never change.
(John 14:6).
