2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
We
will have battles to fight every day we are in this life, although sometimes we
may not realize it, and at times we might forget the war is raging. Our enemy,
Satan, would like nothing more than to keep us in a state of despair and
defeat, keeping us in a stressful condition and leaving in its wake a fear that
keeps us down and out. If you are a faithful follower and believer of our Lord
and Savior, Christ Jesus, Satan will not let you rest long without engaging you
in a battle for your spiritual life. Unfortunately, some believe that the
closer we become to Christ Jesus, the less Satan will attack us.
It
is the opposite; when one slips from being in the center of God's will, Satan
will not have to waste much manpower on that person. However, when we get closer to Christ, enjoying a personal
relationship with Him, Satan will see that as a threat to his evil plan and
mount an all-out assault.
Remember,
Satan had no reservations about attacking Jesus when He was in the wilderness
for forty days (Matthew 4:1-11). God reminds us in His Holy Word to keep alert
and attentive to Satan's evil schemes and plans. Our Lord and Savior, Christ
Jesus, has provided all the armor we need to fight the worst battle Satan can
throw at us. In this collection of armories, God has also provided the Sword of
the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). The Sword of the Spirit
is given to us so that we will not only be able to stand against the attacks of
Satan but will be able to overcome any lies and deceits he may send our
way.
As
we become more efficient in our spiritual growth, through a study of His Word,
a consecrated prayer life, and service to God and others, we will begin to see
the false teachings and lies from Satan and his evil followers much clearer.
Then we will be able to stand, in the Holy Name of Christ Jesus, against the
subversions and sabotages that will undoubtedly come our way as long as we are
in this world.
The
most encouraging news is that God will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5;
Deuteronomy 31:6); he will always be with us in every battle we fight. Prayer
is the most powerful tool given to us by our creator, sustainer, and Savior
because it allows us to kneel at the very throne of God and bring our petitions
and praises directly to Him. This great blessing is made possible because of
the most incredible display of love the world has ever seen, the sacrifice of
Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary.
