2 Peter 3:14 - "Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,"
As Peter finishes his natural life, there is by all accounts a
rising desire to caution the followers of Christ of the mounting risk of false
teachers, whom the Apostle Peter distinguished as rebellious and deceitful
humans, bent on furthering Satan's cause on earth. However, he assures us that
such false teachers will irrevocably be destroyed at the second coming of
Christ Jesus when He comes back to this world to set up His Millennial Kingdom.
Peter is also ardent to awaken the believer's awareness of the many trials and
tribulations Christians will go through on earth as the end approaches.
Ultimately, these
disdainers will attempt to scorn our blessed hope in Christ Jesus when He
returns to earth to take us to be with Him for eternity. These ungodly
unbelievers will not only refuse to recognize the truth of God's Word but will
attempt to reject Him as the almighty creator of heaven and earth. However, the
"day of the Lord" will be a great surprise and shock to all denying Christ
Jesus as the Son of God. Not only will the "Day of the Lord"
overwhelm these malevolent humans without anyone noticing; however, Peter even
reminds us about happenings that will occur toward the finish of Christ's
Millennial rule, when the sky will die with an extraordinary commotion, the
components will dissolve due to the severe intensity and the earth and all that
is in it will be set on fire - after which God will create another paradise, a new
earth. Regarding all that Peter has told us of the heavenly power and
commitments of God, along with stunning occasions that are soon to happen on
the planet, believers are admonished: "Since
you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless
and blameless,"
Spiritual Christians look
forward to the second coming of Jesus. This anticipation keeps us at the summit
of our spiritual performance; we operate at a maximum, not at our minimum. But
unfortunately, those who do not have Christ in their hearts and souls have
little or no anticipation for the future. These lost souls may hold a high
degree of worldly education but remain ignorant of what is coming when Our Lord
and Savior returns to take His Children home.
