Bible Verse of the Day Thursday June 8th, 2023

Psalms 86:5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.

Forgiveness is a rewarding and gratifying blessing from God; however, the Lord does much more than forgive our sins. He purifies us and remembers our sins no more (Hebrews 8:12). The love we receive from God is not measured or restricted; it is absolute and unconditional. God will pour out His love and forgiveness when we genuinely seek Him as our Lord and Savior. The term "Lord" means we surrender our entire being to Him, body, mind, spirit, heart, and soul.

God's love does not depend on the virtue of the object of His love; we cannot and never will be able to earn or merit God's Love or forgiveness. God's love is unconditional because his very nature is love; it is not just a single aspect of His character. We can calculate the measure of God's Love by the magnitude of His love for us. His love for us is of such importance that He gave His Son Jesus to give His life on an Old, Rugged Cross to pay a sinful debt we could never pay. God shows His greatness by giving "His only begotten Son" to pay our debt for sins He did not owe. Jesus has always been the "Only begotten Son" eternally. If we only believe in Christ Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, surrendering ourselves to Him, we will not be condemned, but have eternal life experiencing God's love, grace, and mercy.

We can harbor love in our hearts for people we do not like; we can even love those we might disagree with. God's Word does not tell us we must like or agree with all people; it says we must love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). God's love is powerful enough to create a love for others in our hearts and souls. Many people cannot find time for others; some do not desire to be disrupted by the problems of their neighbors. We hear the term way too often: "I have enough problems of my own to be bothered by the problems of others,"

The complete expression and demonstration of God's love is Calvary; there is no more need or proof required than Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross. God's love is shown and demonstrated to the World by the sacrificial love on the Cross. Our motive for loving others as ourselves is God's love, our love for God is our evidence we are part of the Family of God.
