2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
What stimulates us to do what we do? What drives us to
undertake, achieve, and engage in the projects we accomplish? Paul said that
love was his persuasive force. How would our lives affect the lives of those
around us if we were to make love our compelling factor in our relationships
with those around us? How would the lives of the ones around us change if we
committed to love all those around us including those that did not know Jesus
as their Lord and Savior? Jesus died on the Cross so that all people might have
the opportunity to come to Him and receiver the saving grace that allows us to
know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we have eternal life with the one that
made it possible for us to be there.
The certainty that Christ loved all people enough to die
for all on the Cross is the ultimate inspiration and purpose behind all service
for Him. If a person acknowledges, trusts, and accepts what Christ did for all,
it will compel or prompt all to serve Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It changes
the entire direction of our lives. The Love of Christ keeps the believer in its
grip. Its powerful impact positions a person where he wants nothing but to
serve Him. Jesus' love for all His children will never fade with time (Romans
8:35). The supreme influence on the priority we place on serving Christ and
living for Him should be his love for us and our love for Him.
Some may ask why we should make so much of Christ Jesus.
The reason is that He took our place on the Cross, it should have been us, but
He loved us so much he took the punishment that we should have experienced. He
paid the ultimate price that changed our destination from Hell to Heaven. Some
have said that Christ Jesus took our Hell so that we might experience heaven.
If God were to waver from His character, He would violate His supreme nature.
The death of His Son, Christ Jesus, on the Cross paid a debt in full and
satisfied His justice and righteousness.
As followers and believers in Christ, our ministry should
be influenced by the message and not by any outside control or pressure, God
does not play second violin to anyone. The saddest thing on the earth is a
person lost and on their way to Hell. The most unfortunate thing is a lost
soul, and the second most tragic situation is a Christian life being influenced
by the world.
