Romans 8:28-29 And we know that in all things God works for
the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to
be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
God
is supreme and ascendant over all the activities of life. He commands all
circumstances in time and space. It matters not whether the situation appears
good or bad, is simple or complicated, finds us in good health or illness, or
is concerned with our life or death; there are no coincidences with God.
Knowledge of God’s promises in God’s Word is the foundation for the orientation
to God’s plan for us as His children. There is only one way that we might
perform with the knowledge and faith that God works in all things for our good:
to know God’s Word and not depend on our feelings. The only way we can claim a
promise from God is to see the promise.
The
sum of what God is doing in our lives is more significant than any suffering
that we might be experiencing. The things in our lives that we might experience
might not seem reasonable to us at the time; however, God’s harmony in the
complete perspective of our lives always works out for good (Psalm 25:10). The
individual ingredients in biscuits, on their own, are not desirable, however
putting them together and exposing them to heat they become a morning delight.
God’s
providence operates under three categories: enduring, corresponding, and
decreeing; God works in all these unconditionally and unlimitedly. God allows
us to have independence by His design and under His supervision. God will
enable us to operate in a manner distinctive to ourselves, but we cannot work
independently from God’s provision. God will always motivate us in every step
but never dictate our thoughts and actions. We will never step outside the “all
things” mentioned in this verse of Scripture (Romans 8:28-29). God’s guidance
is more than a disengaged general direction to humanity. God gives us true
freedom within His supreme harmony and will always encourage us in every step
we take.
