Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
The very power that raised Christ Jesus from the tomb lives
in every person that has surrendered their lives, heart, spirit, and soul to
God. Everyone who accepts Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior has the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God. The amount of the Holy Spirit available
to a person is equivalent to how much of ourselves we have surrendered to God.
Since God gives the Holy Spirit to every believer at their new spiritual birth,
Christians live with a higher and more potent wellspring than our flesh.
Many heartfelt people in the Christian community are
spiritual but have not surrendered themselves to Christ and are banking on
their good works or lack of evil works for their salvation. There are way too
many churchgoers that view salvation as something that must be worked for
initially and worked for to maintain. Sadly, so many believe someone can lose
their salvation because of a lack of good works. They simultaneously believe
that good works and deeds will afford them extra blessings in this life and our
eternal life.
The beautiful aspect of this is not only are we in Christ,
but Christ is in us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God. God will
not abide in a home of sin, so consequently, the old person must spiritually
die so that Jesus can take up residence in our hearts and souls, the new person
in Christ. The genuineness and authenticity of the Father who raised Jesus from
the dead will send the Spirit of God to raise us from the dead. Those depending
on their good works or deeds to get them into heaven will hear some sad words
When Jesus returns.
Matthew 7:21-23 21 “Not everyone who says to me,
‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who
does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me
on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your
name drive out demons and, in your name, perform many
miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away
from me, you evildoers!’
When Jesus said only the ones that did the will of my
father (Verse 22) will enter heaven can only be pointing to one thing, accept
what Christ Jesus did on the Cross for our salvation. If we ignore His work on
Calvary and attempt to work our way into heaven, we are discounting the love of
God that put His Son on the Cross.
