Colossians 1:10-11 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,
Walking worthy of the Lord assumes that we know who and
what the Lord is and has done for us and others so that we can match our life
with his endowment. In these days of doctrinal confusion, we should be praying
for all that Satan had blinded their eyes to the truth. Satan loves it when he
can convince people that our salvation is equivalent to some good works or deeds,
we have accomplished. Our talk is not our testimony; it is always our walk. Our
testimony sometimes takes some time to build, but we can lose it in the blink
of an eye. When that happens, it can take time to rebuild our confidence again.
To live according to God’s provision, we must live our
lives in complete and total surrender to the Lord. Some spend excessive time
attempting to please people around them instead of endeavoring to please God.
No matter how much we try to, we will never please everyone in our circles,
pleasing God would be the better option. As followers of Christ Jesus, we
should walk in a manner that would be pleasing to our Father in Heaven;
everything we, as Christians, do, good or bad, reflects on Christ Jesus.
Some believe that God only calls a few people to the
ministry of Jesus; however, the truth is that God calls all followers and
believers in Christ as missionaries to spread the gospel to all corners of the
earth. Some people’s ministries are just a few square miles around where they
live, work, and worship. God calls some to travel to other continents to take
the gospel to people who have never heard of Jesus. However, there are no big
or small ministries; no ministry is more critical than another ministry. We
bring to God the blessings that He has bestowed upon us and say to Him: “Lord,
I am here because I want to be your servant to tell others about your marvelous
love, grace, and mercy.”
Our service and surrender to God should grow stronger each
day He gives us to live our lives for Him and in His service. With every
calling God bestows on our lives, he will always give us the power to carry out
His prescribed mission. The power is always in the life of every believer and
servant of Christ Jesus in and through the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit. The
measure of power we can have through God’s Holy Spirit is equally consistent with our surrender to Christ Jesus. God does not smile on partial surrender; He
is only pleased with total surrender. We cannot ride the fence between God and
the world, Satan not only controls those that choose to live on his side of the
fence, but he also controls the fence riders. Riding the fence means we are
trying to serve two masters, and God says that cannot be done (Matthew 6:24).
