Bible Verse of the Day Thursday August 17th, 2023

Acts 4:10-11 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected which has become the cornerstone.

There is a gospel song entitled “Jesus, there’s just something about that name” written by Bill and Gloria Gather. The song tells the story about the power in the Name of Jesus.

In our verse today Peter was defending Himself before the Sanhedrin for nothing else except preaching the Gospel of Christ Jesus. The Jewish leaders thought that after they had Jesus crucified, that would be the end of His teaching. Little did they know about the power of God in and through Christ Jesus and the tidal wave of preachers and teachers that would bring the truth of the Gospel to the ends of the earth. If any of the Jewish leaders had been present at the ascension of Jesus back to heaven, they would have known that Jesus left his followers with the mission to spread His message to all the World (Acs 1:8). Peter and John had come to the Temple for morning worship and found a disabled man sitting outside the Temple begging for pennies. Peter and John told the disabled man that by the power of Jesus, he should stand up and walk. In our verse today, Peter is telling the Jewish doubters that this man they thought was lame stood before them by the power of Jesus.

Just as the power of Jesus healed that disabled man at the Temple that day, Jesus can change our eternal destination. There is not one religion on this earth that can deliver lost souls from their final destination, a separation from God for eternity. There is only one way that any of us can know eternal life with God: through Jesus and acceptance of His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary; we must believe that Jesus paid our sin debt on the Cross. He paid a sin debt that he did not owe, a sin debt that we could not pay. Jesus’ Resurrection authenticates that Jesus died for our sins, and He rose from the grave on the third day to establish that He had justified those who believe in Him (Romans 4:25). Our salvation and eternal life is based on what Jesus did and not on anything that we might believe that we can do.

There are a few things that every person must know in their lifetime to spend eternity with the one that made it possible for us to be there. Everyone needs Salvation:

Romans 3:23 We are all sinners.

Romans 5:8 God provided His Son Jesus for an atoning sacrifice for our sin.

Salvation is a free gift: Romans 6:23          We are saved by Grace: Ephesians 2:8-9

Salvation Comes through Faith: Romans 4:5

God saves all who call upon Him Romans 10:13
