Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
What is of the utmost
importance to us as Christians? We must have a set of priorities in our daily
lives if we ever expect to gain success and be productive in our walk with
Christ. We must concentrate on the essentials and focus less on the
not-so-essential task. In this scripture verse, the Apostle Paul points out
what is vital and essential in our walk with Christ: “Faith expressing itself
through love.” Our faith that lacks love and helpful service for others is a
dead faith. Sometimes Satan will attempt to focus our attention off the
essentials and divert our vision to the peripheral. Our enemy will also try to
have us believe that our interests and concerns are more vital than lending a
helping hand to others in need. If we remain surrendered to Christ, He will
keep our vision on those around us who might need a kind word or a helping
hand.
Authentic faith will always
display itself in love. It is not passive and inactive. Faith does not require
the law to propel it forward to love. Love invigorates and strengthens faith
and God spiritually works on our belief in love. God’s love is a tremendous
encouraging power. The fuel of the love of God propels faith. Worldly religion
will never be able to displace dynamic faith, while on the other hand,
Christlike love drives true Godly faith. Christians who work and grapple with
some elusive hope of gaining some merit with God will always fail. The person
that attempts to gain eternal life with Christ through self-worth or personal
works will ultimately fail because we will never be able to live up to God’s
perfection. No rites in any religion can lead to a spiritual life because only
God can take us to perfection. On the other hand, the Love of God working in
His children through their faith will produce all that we need for a spiritual
and productive life of service with God.
When we veer off the path of
God’s grace, we will ultimately descend into a false belief that we can impress
God with our merger works and deeds. God’s truth is something that we should accept
more than just with our minds, it should always hold a tight grip on our entire
being, heart, mind, spirit body and soul. Satan will pound away at us twenty-four
seven to attempt to get us to believe that we can accumulate and even stockpile
credits with God to use when we stand before Him in the next life. When Satan
gets us to that point, he has us right in the palm of his hands. God is not in
need of anything and there is nothing we have or will ever possess that God
might require.
Christian love is essential;
however, if it is not made manifest in our faith in Christ Jesus, it is of no
consequence to us or others around us. Our love alone is insufficient; we must
believe in and have faith in what Jesus did for us on the Cross of Calvary.
