Hebrews 7:25-26 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Jesus not only came to sacrifice His life on the Cross for
us or raised us to give us life. No, as extraordinary as those gifts are, he bestowed
another blessing additional to those two. Our Savior is our redeemer and
appeals to God to bestow grace upon us. On top of being our Savior, Jesus is
also our defender and brother at the Father's throne.
When this verse says, "he is able," the one the writer
is speaking of is Jesus. He not only came to sacrifice His life on the Cross
for us or raised us to give us life. No, as extraordinary as those gifts are,
he bestowed another blessing additional to those two. Our Savior is our
redeemer and appeals to God to bestow grace upon us.
God deals thoroughly with any trial a believer might face.
Jesus is consistently praying for His believers and followers; however, it is
not because God might be slightly reluctant to hear our prayers. The mission of
intercession that Jesus carries out on our behalf only comes to completion once
we are all in our eternal home in heaven. Jesus is much more than just the
offering for our sins; He is also the priest who offers the sacrifice. He paid
the sin debt we could never pay and continues interceding for us daily. Christ
Jesus not only covers the sins of all people who believe in Him, but much like
the Levitical priest did in the Temple, he takes the sin away. Jesus's
salvation for us is eternal because His life is eternal.
Jesus, as our High Priest, meets all our needs, not just
some of them. He meets needs for us that we did not even know we required.
Jesus is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinful humanity, and exalted
high above the heavens. We all need to satisfy God's requirement that all sin
must be paid for, and we all need our conscience cleaned to serve God in the
missions he calls us to. We all require someone who can enable us to worship
and equip us for His service. We also need someone to comfort us in our trials
and tribulations. Only one can meet all those requirements and more than we
could ever imagine. Jesus is the only one, the truth, the way, and the life
(John14:6).
