1 Corinthians 15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word, I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
The narrative of the Gospel is straightforward. The grace
of the Gospel is glorious. The sacrifice of the Gospel is beyond our
understanding. The victory of the Gospel is everlasting. The foundation of the
Gospel and the entire Christian life is the crucifixion and resurrection of
Christ Jesus. All human beings will grow old and one day pass from this life.
None of us avoid growing old or dying.
The magnificent Gospel of Christ affirms that Jesus
conquered our most significant enemy death by His resurrection from the dead.
There is coming a time when we will not require eyeglasses, dentures, or
pain-relieving drugs. Everything in the life of a Christian life pivots on
Jesus' resurrection. We would have no hope if Jesus' dead body were still in
the ground.
Without belief in the resurrection of Jesus, we have no
faith. Suppose we do not believe in our hearts, minds, and souls without any
intellectual or spiritual reservation that Christ Jesus walked out of that tomb
on that glorious morning. In that case, we cannot attain salvation (Romans
10:9). If Jesus had not risen from the dead, the Bible would be a book of
friction like the Da Vinci code, which is most certainly a work of fiction,
straight from Satan himself.
Jesus took on himself our Hell so that we might have His
heaven. The fact that Jesus died is not anything new. King David, the Apostles,
and Billy Graham, the most beloved preacher ever, died. The unique part of the
death of Jesus is that he died for your sins and my sins and then rose from the
dead so that we might know life eternal. This fact is not religious nonsense;
the central foundation of the Gospel is that Jesus died for our sins and rose
on the third day that we might all know eternal life. Just as Jesus' death
pardoned all our sins, his resurrection assures our eternal future.
No one in this world will ever carry the level of love for
us that Jesus displayed on the Cross of Calvary. His death on Calvary appeased
God's just demands for all humanity. There will never be any event that is more
significant and crucial than the sacrifice of Jesus at Calvary. All life begins
at the Cross. Let us all live daily through the power of the resurrection and
show our gratitude by spreading the Gospel of Christ Jesus to the ends of the
earth.
