Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We have the assurance of Father God in our Lord and Savior
Christ Jesus through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that we are conquerors.
No power in the earthly realm or the depths of Hell can take that blessing away
from us.
Some people see salvation likened to Noah welcoming a pagan
in his day to put his trust in the Word of God and come aboard the Ark. Some
see salvation as Noah's offering to place a peg on the side of the Ark. A
person could experience salvation by hanging on to the Ark throughout the
storms. Salvation is not contingent on us holding on to God but on being
securely held by and in Christ Jesus.
Nothing can disconnect us from the love of God in Christ
Jesus. Satan and his evil followers can murder our bodies, wreck our financial
lives, rack our physical being with pain, and seek to destroy our
relationships. However, Satan cannot possess our hearts and souls when we
surrender our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls to Christ Jesus. When we have
surrendered to Jesus, our hearts belong to the Lord, our future also belongs to
him, and Satan can never alter our definitive future with Christ Jesus (Colossians
3:1-4). Jesus' empty tomb is our assurance that our future with him is
glorious, triumphant, and eternal.
When we have eyes to see and a heart to believe that the
victory that Jesus claimed over death and Satan belongs to us as well, nothing
can take that assurance away from us. We can know beyond any doubt that we have
eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Nothing in this world or
beyond can take from us something that has been won for us by the sacrifice of
Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. Someone can believe in many things concerning
Jesus and still not have an assurance of eternal life. One might think that
Jesus was a natural person who lived in the first century, died on the Cross,
and rose from the dead on the third day. Someone could even believe He was God
in the flesh, and by believing in Him, we would have eternal life; with all
these beliefs, someone could harbor doubts concerning their eternal life.
The reason for this is that so many want to hang on to the
false belief that our good works get us into heaven. It is sad to think about,
but some are living with the wrong notion that there is some form of a scale
and that your good works must outbalance your bad works.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not
everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of
heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many
will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name
and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then
I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
