Hebrews 3:7-9 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.
The Bible, God’s Word, is a gift to all humanity through
the inspiration of The Holy Spirit of God. The Bible comes to us by heavenly
revelation. God used both celestial and human creativity to allocate and
provide His inspiration to humankind. Revelation is God’s mind, freely given to
the mind of humanity. The human authors were not the essential initiators of
the Word of God. It was God’s Holy Spirit communicating through the human
writer (2 Pe 1:21). Even beyond that, God’s Holy Spirit administered every word
the human author composed (2 Ti 3:16).
There are some Christians who start their Christian life
well; however, some do not stay the course. Ignoring our problems or putting
them on the back burner can cause more problems than solutions. Putting off our
struggles makes our issues worse. It is much better to deal with them before
they intensify and become more complicated.
Sadly, even the most surrendered believers can come to a
point in their lives that they begin to disregard God’s Word. God will, at
times, put the most devout Christians at some crossroads in their lives to test
our devotion and belief. In much the same manner, sometimes, we believe we are
trying God when going through some tribulation in our lives. There are times
that we might even criticize God for allowing us to walk through some dark
valley.
Trials always test our surrender and devotion to God, as
well as revealing the condition of our hearts before God. If we go through an extended
period of smooth sailing, we may not acknowledge or appreciate the condition of
our hearts. When the storm comes upon us, it will show how much we depend on
God. Adverse circumstances do not change us; they display where we are
spiritually. They expose us to where we are in our walk with our Lord and
Savior, Christ Jesus.
