Bible Verse of the Day Thursday December 28th, 2023

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Currently, we hold our complete life in our hands. We control all our schedules, entertainment, and the management of our homes and lives there. We also control our relationships there. If we are searching for an answer to a question, we don't know; we just go to whatever search engine we have available. We are, of course, speaking of our smartphones. We have grown accustomed to turning to that device for all our questions and problems.

Our smartphones would only be helpful with a cellular or wi-fi network. There are times when we lose our wi-fi or network signal and go into panic mode. At that point, we become aware of how much we depend on our cellular phones. The wireless signals we depend on so much are, of course, invisible to the human eye. If we had to demonstrate the invisible signals to a skeptic, the demonstration would be the music and other data we call up on our phones.

There is some similarity between that scenario and God's promises. If we are in Christ Jesus and He is in us, all the promises of God are ours. That is the key to assuring truth in today's verse; God is always broadcasting two distinct truths to our souls and spirits, which pertain to our natural lives and Godliness. God is faithful in sending out the signals. However, God's intended receiver is not us but His Son, Christ Jesus. We receive what Jesus deserves if we are in Him, indwelled with the Holy Spirit. If we are not reviewing these signals, it is crystal clear that the problem is with our receiver. This lost signal occurs when we take our eyes off Jesus and begin to look at what the world offers.

When we ignore the signals from God, it is somewhat like placing our smartphones in "airplane mode." The enemy of our souls is always ready to block or disrupt the clear signal God has sent to us through Christ. Let us not turn off our wi-fi but remain focused on the rich experience of knowing and surrendering to Christ Jesus.
