Romans 1:2-4 The gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
Having just been reminded in verse 2 that the Lord Jesus
was fully human: "a descendant of David, that afforded Him the right to Israels throne, we now discover that Christ Jesus was also: Declared God's
son with power, because God's Holy Spirit Resurrected him from the dead.
Isaiah tells us that Jesus was the Son of Man born and the
Son of God from eternity. Paul confirms that He is the earthly Seed of David
while being declared the Son of God. It is only in human form that Jesus could
be identified with humanity and offer His perfect life for the world's sins,
but only as God He is good enough to pay the price for our sin. Christ had to
be God and Human to qualify as our Redeemer.
But the fantastic verification that God the Father
acknowledged the sacrifice of Christ, His Son, on our behalf, was His resurrection.
This magnificent substitutionary death and glorious resurrection establishes
the gospel for which the Father and the Son set apart the apostle Paul. It is the Resurrection of
Christ Jesus upon which we base our faith. Paul unambiguously states this
truth, plainly and bluntly, in his first letter to the Christians in Corinth. If
by chance we still do not comprehend the magnitude of Christ's Resurrection, Paul asserts in 1 Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ has not been raised,
your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
We cannot function in our Christian life without the
written, historical facts of God’s Word. When God resurrected Christ hundreds
of witnesses beheld him. Biblical facts are the weakness of fallaciousness. The
true historical account of the resurrection found in God’s Holy Word is a major
stumbling block to unbelief. There can be no true gospel without historical
facts. We should never confuse the deity with the humanity of Christ. The purpose
Jesus came as a human being was to die in his body for the remission of our
sins. He became the true intermediary between God and humanity. As a human he
represents all his children and as God he exemplifies the Father in the interceding
process.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.
The power of the resurrection set Jesus apart and confirmed
the proclamation of His deity. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, we would
not have the uniqueness of the resurrection to authenticate His deity. Jesus
was declared to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead.
