2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Many in today's world do not
comprehend the nature of truth. Many say that truth is regarded as relative and
not absolute truth. But that is not what the Bible teaches. Absolute truth is
not a concept that we accept or deny but a reality found in the very person of
Jesus, who says He is the way, the truth, and the life. Furthermore, what we read in the
Holy Bible is the very words of God, which is truth. "Your word is
truth," And that's what we have in the Bible, the Word of God, which is
the word of truth.
The world suppresses the truth, attempts to exchange God's truth for a lie, and prefers fables (myths) over the truth. Many will seek out anyone who tells them what they want to hear. The word of God brings conviction and points us to Jesus for salvation. As the truth is received, heard, or read, it is believed, and the Holy Spirit gives comprehension. Our hearts and minds are captured and forever changed. As our hearts and minds are changed, our lives are changed. We begin to see that we are different from the rest of the world. We begin to understand that we are not part of this world. We know that we are becoming set aside for a particular purpose of God, and this is sanctification, being made holy for God. The word tells us we can know God's truth as we encounter it.
God's word is truth and we first encounter God's truth through His written word. John 17:17B "your word is truth." The word of truth points is to the person of truth, Jesus is the truth. Jesus proclaimed himself the truth, John 14:6 "I am the way the truth and the life." Little words here make a difference. Jesus did not say he was some truth but proclaimed he was the truth. The Holy Spirit is truth because the spirit is one with Jesus and the Father, so there is no contradiction here.
What proof could be there that Jesus is indeed the truth of God? How about if he was crucified and resurrected from the dead? Would that suffice? It might only serve those who believe the witnesses that saw him. One day, every eye will see him, even those that pierced his side. There is coming a day that every knee will bow and confess that Christ Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father. The truth will eventually become universally acknowledged, but for those who resist it until it is forced upon them, there will be no reward, only a fearful judgment of fire.
